Dominique Ramsey is a digital illustrator and designer from Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts for a year before transferring to the SCAD as an illustration major.
Her work mostly features animals, bright colors, detailed patterns, and abstract/unique visual elements. I think her art is a prime example of out-of-the-box thinking.
She has an impressive list of clients, including: Delta Airlines, Nike, Microsoft, UMG Records, Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Netflix, Scholastic, Macy’s, National Wildlife Federation, Huffpost, Pinterest, Walmart, and Snapchat.

Here are some of my favorite works from her.

“You Give Good Love”
This one makes you stop and look at for a second to realize the ocean is being personified as another bird. I think it’s a really meaningful piece because the beach is a lot of peoples’ happy place (especially if you’re a seagull) and it reminds me of how going on vacation makes me feel better, like a hug.

“My People”
This is part of a series she did about Black hope/resilience and I just love how she draws panthers. Even though they’re just black cats, she gives them a lot of color and detail that makes them very pleasing to look at. Here are some more examples:

“Always Return”
This work was inspired by the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron and the song I Will Always Return by Bryan Adams. When I first saw this, I immediately was upset I didn’t think of it first. I love drawing bison and I love this movie and this song.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you”
This is a piece she did for Easter. What I found interesting was that she gave the sheep/lamb creature the mane and anatomy of a lion—I do the exact same thing, but I’ve never seen that specific depiction in theological art before.
