Home Project #2 Process post
I wanted to make a piece about how severely I'd been slacking when it came to writing due to distractions and procrastination. I began with a digital sketch and some images to get an idea of what the collage would look like. I added rulers to either side to know what scale I'd need to print them at. Of course, at this stage, I thought things were looking good so far and I had no idea of the horrors to come. I drew each individual component to be printed out later. I omitted t

Project #6 process post
This piece of digital art was made using bits of real images. This was my main reference photo (not mine) of a dog who looks like my character in a private jet. Rough sketch to get to composition down. Slightly more detailed sketch, and beginning of lineart Building the background. Better integrating the photos and drawing the sky. Finished!

Project #5 process post
I first started with a rough sketch, to get the perspective right. Lineart. I kept some of the sketch lines to give it a free-er look. Flat colors. Color adjustments and field details. Rendering, final details, and finished!

Q2 Artist awareness: Dominique Ramsey
Dominique Ramsey is a digital illustrator and designer from Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts for a year before transferring to the SCAD as an illustration major. Her work mostly features animals, bright colors, detailed patterns, and abstract/unique visual elements. I think her art is a prime example of out-of-the-box thinking. She has an impressive list of clients, including: Delta Airlines, Nike, Microsoft, UMG Records, Penguin Rando

Home project process post
I colored the eagle first because she was the most challenging. I was trying to conceal the fact she was made of several pieces of paper. I also did the rat, since he was made of several materials (vellum for the mechanical wings). All I had left were the less complicated/smaller characters. Colored. Here, as I was starting to add the backgrounds, I realized the elements should be closer together. This was the final product. I think there could’ve been more contrast as it’s a

Project #4 process post
I began with a sketch. The dolphins got moved around a lot till I decided on the final composition. I then colored everything with a flat and monochrome palette. I drew the milky way, star, lighthouse, and water details. I softly shaded the characters so they’d blend in with their background.

Project #3 process post
I first sketched the composition digitally. I then co lored it so I knew exactly what colors to use with the goache—this is difficult with saturated lighting/shading. I did not take many process photos because this work was painful to create, but this is it close to being finished.

Careers in art: storyboarding
What is storyboarding? Storyboard artists map out the scenes of a film, show, or other video media before it is actually produced. This allows a better idea of what the camera angles, movement, and composition of each scene is supposed to look like. They work with the director and writers of the film in order to achieve this. Storyboards are most commonly done for animation, but can also be for live action. Responsibilities Can translate a script into a sequence of drawings

Q1 progress
I started with a rough sketch of what I thought the composition would be I did another sketch, adding more action between the characters. I basically repainted the whole dune and sky because i previously accidentally used the cheap paint. I am learning that I have horrible fine motor skills because I cannot seem to paint a straight line. Everything you see here was painted at least twice. I still have to add the ghost’s outlines in white (for now they are just glowy smudges
