Self-portrait

Because I initially struggled with Batista’s specific style of shading—part smudging and part hatching—I completed the whole artist copy before I moved onto this self portrait. I was better able to replicate it here but still hatched more sparingly than the original artist did. Though this was also a very detailed style (except for the background, which is mostly loose hatching and a few lines), I’m happy with how it turned out and am glad I chose it. I also drew my dog and I in different color conté to create more of a distinction.
